1. Sha Tin to Tai Mei Tuk
This family-friendly route starts at Shing Mun River and winds along the picturesque coastline of Tolo Harbour. Spanning about 22km, it takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete, making it perfect for a leisurely day trip. Enjoy breathtaking views and finish your ride just in time for a stunning sunset.
2. Tuen Mun to Sha Tin
For those seeking a longer adventure, the Tuen Mun to Sha Tin cycle track covers around 55km. Riders can soak in the natural beauty of wetlands and the Pat Sin Leng mountain range while passing ancient temples like Hau Kok Tin Hau Temple.
3. Yuen Long to Butterfly Beach
This 14km route offers a glimpse into Hong Kong’s cultural heritage. Starting from Yuen Long city centre, be sure to stop at the Ping Shan Tang Clan Gallery and end at the relaxing Butterfly Beach.
4. Victoria Harbour Shared Path

For those who really want to challenge themselves, why not take the 115km Big Ride route from issue 24 of Cyclist? Our route on that adventure included an out-and-back up to Golden Hill, before making your way towards the main climb up to Tai Mo Shan, the highest peak in Hong Kong. Take a breather at the top before turning around and flying back down. On the way back, don’t miss the turn onto MacLehose Trail Section 8, which will take you all the way down to Tai Lam Nature Trail, before completing the fun descent back to Kowloon.
