Introducing Ekar: The next-generation 1×13 gravel drivetrain

Since Tadej Pogacar of UAE Team Emirates won the 2020 Tour de France on a Campagnolo-equipped Colnago, there has been plenty of buzz around the famed Italian groupset manufacturer. On the back of that big win, Campagnolo is launching its new 1×13 groupset: the Ekar.

Ekar groupset

Just as Campagnolo’s ground-breaking first quick release lever can trace its origins to the Passo Croce D’Aune climb, the innovative new gravel-focused Ekar groupset was born on another cima local to Campagnolo’s current Italian headquarters: Ekar. That, Campagnolo tells us, is where it gets its name.

At 2.385g, Campagnolo claims that this is the world’s lightest gravel groupset. Campagnolo also tells us that Ekar epitomises the challenges of Italian gravel, where asphalt gives way to tracks and trails, and climbs and descents present surfaces and characters that evolve season by season and change ride by ride. Ekar delivers 1×13 transmission with wide range, close ratio, and no compromise.

Thanks to a 9-tooth sprocket, Ekar’s unique and innovative gravel-specific 1×13 drivetrain delivers a full range of gear ratios with smooth, natural gear progression for perfect cadence, whatever your speed and whatever your style of gravel riding.

There are four chainring options – 38, 40, 42 and 44T – and a choice of three cassettes – 9-36T, 9-42T and 10-44T.

Ekar bags

Ekar also comes with matching bikepacking bags, kit and accessories – see here for women’s apparel, here for the men’s apparel, and here for the bags and accessories.
