Suunto’s Wing 2 headphones allow you to listen to music, books or podcasts, while still being able to hear external noises like approaching cars.
This model has some unique features which make it stand out in a rapidly growing market. Its power bank (similar to what you get with wireless earbuds) can recharge the headphones on the go, adding up to 24 hours to the already impressive 12 hours of run time you get on full charge.
When paired with the app, there is a neck health test, which asks you to perform a series of movements before determining your flexibility. It then recommends exercises to improve comfort and mobility.
The Wing 2 also allows you to answer calls with a nod of your head, or skip tracks with a shake of your head – both useful on the bike when hands on the bars are important.
Adding to these features are the programmable LED lights on the sides of the Wing 2. Although not as bright as your rear bike light, every bit helps to keep you seen and safe when on the road.

But every now and then, you need a bit of sound to get you out of bed and the Suunto Wing 2 headphones were just the tonic.
We used them on the road bike, on the trainer and all the time around the house, listening to music, audiobooks and podcasts.
The sound is excellent with these headphones and although sometimes a little soft when riding at speed, they generally have a great balance of sound quality while allowing you to hear your surrounds.
Even on busy western Sydney commutes, our hearing sense was capable of hearing approaching traffic as well as the snapping of swooping spring magpies.
Wearing these headphones makes it almost impossible to go back to wireless ear buds for the safety, comfort and even battery life.
