Smith: Defy sunglasses and Triad MIPS helmet

Triad MIPS helmet
RRP: $275 | www.smithopticsaustralia.com/

Positioned as Smith’s mid-tier option for road and gravel, the Triad MIPS delivers much of the flagship performance of the Trace model at a more accessible price point, coming in at around $100 cheaper and just 10g lighter at 290g.

One of the key distinctions in Smith’s helmet line-up is its use of Koroyd, a proprietary impact-absorbing material rarely found outside the brand.

Constructed of thousands of thermally welded co-polymer tubes, Koroyd offers exceptional energy absorption while remaining lightweight and highly ventilated.

In the Triad, it’s paired with 19 large vents and the ubiquitous MIPS, offering a compelling combination of airflow and rotational impact protection.

Practical touches like integrated front and rear eyewear storage – perfectly compatible with Smith’s sunglasses range – round out the package. It comes in three colourways – Matte Black, Matte Pacific and Matte White.

Defy sunglasses
RRP: $225 | www.smithopticsaustralia.com/

Smith’s latest Defy sunglasses are a real head turner. The bold, rimless design pushes the boundaries of weight and minimalism, ideal for performance-focused riders who want unobstructed vision and all-day comfort.

The single-piece ChromaPop lens is designed to provide high-contrast vision to ensure you see every root, rut or pothole when riding.

Swapping lenses to suit changing light is quick and easy thanks to the Defy’s interchangeable system. Grippy Megol pads on the nose and temples keep the glasses firmly in place, even when you’re sweating or bouncing over rough terrain, while the AutoLock hinges make one-handed on-and-off a breeze.

Add in the tough yet flexible TR90 nylon frame and you’ve got a pair of shades built for serious riding without skimping on comfort.

With six colourways to choose from – including our favourite, matte vintage tortoise – the Defy blends performance optics with distinctive style. It’s a strong addition to Smith’s growing range of high-performance eyewear.
