Oversized, shield-format sunglasses – where the lens is one big slab – have been de rigeur for a few years now, but tend to all have the same Achilles heel: the one-piece lens blocks airflow, making it likely to fog up.
Koo counters this in its new Hype sunglasses, which feature a central lens cut-out as well as vents at the sides of the frames. Koo says this increases airfl ow and reduces the risk of fog. While the lens remains shield-format, Koo has shaped it to mimic dual lenses, which are apparently coming back into fashion.
Zeiss supplies the bespoke lenses, meaning optical clarity should be assured, and Koo says the frames are made with 45% bio-based materials, reducing the impact of their production on the environment.
