It’s that time of year again, Cyclist is gearing up for a hot summer and the relief of the Orange Challenge on the other side of it.

Sunday 22nd of March will be the fifth year Cyclist lines up on a crisp Autumn morning in the Central West of New South Wales. Orange just keeps us coming back for more.

Bicycle Network have settled on their route options: 70km, 110km, and 170km. The courses are rider’s favourites from the past two editions. Supplemented with all the usual Bicycle Network support; mechanics, and a smorgasbord of treats at the rest stops. Don’t take too long stuffing your pockets though, there are still cut-off times in place. A 19km/h average is required to make the 170km ride.

Get there early as the Orange Challenge’s Saturday events are back with the Social Ride and Prologue in the Park. $1,000 is up for grabs in the prologue, if we make the top step this year the shout’s on us at Hotel Canobolas.

Make a weekend of it and visit the countless wineries, cellar doors, and ‘hatted’ restaurants. Cyclist’s favourites are the Agrestic Grocer for breakfast or a long lunch packed with local produce, including it’s own craft beer at Badlands Brewery. If you’re looking for white table cloths seek out fine dining legend Lolli Rodini. For something casual you can’t go past the locals: Canobolas Hotel, Union Bank, or Lord Anson.

After the ride if you need to quench that thirst the Orange Challenge will have one waiting at the finish. In saying a big ‘Thank you’ back to Orange, Bicycle Network have teamed up to support the locals and the farms we ride around, donating all funds to the Buy a Bale charity, and consider the option to donate one with your entry too.
