British Cycling has agreed to a five year partnership with Cervélo which will see the bike manufacturer work with the Great Britain Cycling Team to provide frames and develop world leading bikes for the Rio and Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Does this mean we’ll see Sir Bradley Wiggins aboard Cervélo for the coming Rio Olympic Games? At this point any such deal is unclear but it does suggest the four-time gold winner would at least be considering a switch as he seeks to add to his already impressive medal tally.
The agreement will also see the research and development teams from both organizations work together to design, develop, and manufacture the fastest track bikes in the world.
British Cycling’s technical director Shane Sutton OBE said: “I’m looking forward to working with Cervélo. They have a long-standing reputation for supplying world-class bikes to world-class athletes so it’s great to have them as a partner.
“The research and development aspect of our partnership is particularly exciting for me, and it will be interesting to see what we can do in terms of developing the next generation of bikes.
“The whole team is looking forward to working with Cervélo and I am confident we will be on the start line with the best bikes in the world at both the Rio and Tokyo Olympic Games.”
