Peaks Challenge – Falls Creek training

With the Festive season upon us now is the time to kick start your training program for next year’s Peaks Challenge – Falls Creek. Team Bicycle Network are hosting a number of training rides over the summer. We’ll be there. Will you?

Join Team Bicycle Network in Sydney for the first Peaks Challenge – Falls Creek training ride.

MEET: Bottom steps of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, northern end @ 6.30am

THE RIDE: Team Bicycle Network will meet all keen rides at the northern end of the Harbour Bridge (bottom of the cycle path steps) before departing towards the northern beaches. Crossing over the Spit Bridge the group will continue along to McCarrs Creek road and make the right-hand turn towards the West Head turn-off. It’s here that you’ll get to sample some of Sydney’s smoothest hot-mix for an out and back lap along a classic location for local cyclists. On return the group will make a sharp right into Akuna Bay for the first proper climb of the day (don’t worry you would have already accumulated a decent amount of vertical metres by this point). After regrouping at the top of Akuna we’ll continue along Mona Vale road onto Forest Way and stop at the service station to refill and refuel. From here it’s a drop into Roseville Bridge and a nasty climb out. After that it’s smooth sailing all the way home – with a few sharp ones just to earn that extra coffee and banana bread.

The total distance starting and finishing at Milsons Point is a touch under 100km. Elevation gain is approx. 1,900 metres.
